Warranty & Care
What our workmanship warranty covers, what it does not, and how to care for wood in the Florida climate.
Last updated: September 18, 2026
1. Workmanship Warranty
We warrant our workmanship on custom cabinetry, millwork and furniture against defects in construction for one year from the date of installation or delivery, unless a longer period is stated in your contract. Within that period we will repair or, where repair is not practical, replace defective work at no charge.
2. What Is Covered
- Joinery failure under normal use
- Doors and drawers that will not stay in adjustment due to construction
- Hardware installation defects, with manufacturer warranties passed through
- Finish defects such as peeling or lifting caused by application error
- Panels that fail structurally due to how they were built
3. What Is Not Covered
- Normal seasonal movement, minor gapping at panel joints and hairline finish checking
- Natural color change over time, which is expected in cherry, walnut, maple and most species
- Variation in grain, figure, color, knots and mineral streaking, which are characteristics of wood and not defects
- Damage from water, flooding, standing moisture or plumbing leaks
- Damage from humidity extremes, including a home left without climate control
- Damage from direct or prolonged sunlight, including fading and finish degradation
- Scratches, dents, heat marks, chemical damage and general wear
- Damage from misuse, overloading, abuse, pets or improper cleaning products
- Alterations, repairs or refinishing performed by others
- Damage from storms, hurricanes, pests, mold or acts of nature
- Material we supplied but did not fabricate or install
4. Environment
Interior woodwork should be kept in a normally conditioned environment, generally 60 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit and 35 to 55 percent relative humidity. Florida homes left closed and unconditioned for long periods, including seasonal residences, expose woodwork to humidity extremes that will cause movement, joint separation and finish problems. Coverage does not extend to damage from an uncontrolled environment.
5. Adjustment Visit
Wood settles into a space. We offer one complimentary adjustment visit within the first year to fine tune doors, drawers and hardware after the material has acclimated. Please collect the small items and request the visit once rather than calling for each one.
6. Care And Cleaning
- Dust with a soft dry or barely damp cloth, then dry immediately.
- Use mild soap and water for spills. Wipe promptly and never let water stand on a surface or seam.
- Avoid ammonia, bleach, abrasive cleaners, magic eraser sponges and silicone based polishes.
- Use coasters, trivets and placemats. Heat and moisture damage finishes faster than anything else.
- Lift objects rather than dragging them across surfaces.
- Keep direct sunlight off wood surfaces where possible, or expect color to shift.
- Oil finished pieces benefit from reapplication every 6 to 12 months, and we will show you how.
- Do not hang heavy items from cabinet doors or overload shelving beyond its rating.
7. Expected Color Change
Cherry darkens dramatically in the first year. Walnut lightens and mellows. Maple ambers slightly. White oak shifts subtly warmer. This is normal, desirable and not reversible. If part of a piece has been covered by an object during that period, an outline may appear, and it typically evens out with exposure.
8. Making A Claim
Contact us with your project name, the date of installation, a description of the issue and photographs. We will respond within two business days and schedule an inspection if needed. Warranty work is scheduled during normal business hours.
9. Transferability
The workmanship warranty is extended to the original client at the original installation address and is not transferable unless agreed in writing.
